DESCRIPTION:Food Waste and Sustainable development: Problems\, solutions and perspectives for the future \nStart Date: Wed\, 08/12/2021 – 09:00 – 17.40 \nEnd Date: Thu\, 09/12/2021 – 09.00-13:00 \nMode: Online \nOverview \nThe 3rd REAMIT Symposium is intended to provide an opportunity for food producers\, food supply chain companies (processing and logistics)\, local authorities\, academics and digital technology providers to explore the problem of food waste and the solutions to achieve more sustainable food systems by reducing the waste. REAMIT is a large European project funded by the Interreg North-West Europe. The project aims to support reducing food waste using Internet of Things sensors and Big Data technologies. The symposium will showcase the achievements of the REAMIT projects so far and highlight the associated impact on three key sustainability areas: social\, environmental and economic. \nThe event will be of interest to food companies aiming to reduce food waste in their supply chains\, digital technology providers looking for innovative applications to help reduce food waste\, public authorities\, food charities and consumer groups that look for strategies to reduce food waste. \nCost: Free but prior registration is required via the Eventbrite link. \nWe aim to bring together agribusiness & technology SMEs from all 5 REAMIT countries for a 1-day annual conference: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnderstanding the importance of REAMIT approach to reduce food waste and its impact on three key sustainability areas: environmental\, social and economical \n\n\nExplore the problem of food waste and the solutions to achieve more sustainable food systems \n\n\n\n\nShowcase REAMIT technologies in line with current technology developments \n\n\nMaximize achievement of REAMIT’s objectives within agrifood supply chains \n\n\nExploring syneries between REAMIT and other initiatives (in Ireland\, EU\, and beyond) aiming to address food waste problem with the use IoT and Big Data technologues to identify opportunities for future colaborations. \n\n\n\nWho should attend? \n\n\nCompanies in agri food supply chains \n\n\nPolicy actors involved in designing and executing policy for agri food supply chains in Ireland\, UK or EU \n\n\nDigital and technology practitioners and providers \n\n\nAcademics \n\n\nInvestors investing in enhancing agri food supply chain companies \n\n\nThis event will now be held online.
